Daily Fitness Logo

Logo Draft

I really liked how my logo turned out. At first i had a really bad color scheme of red, grey and black that invoked a serious tone that i felt didn’t fit my blog style. So it switched to a cooler color base of blue that made it more pleasing to look at. Some other changes i did was change the bar from just a boring black line, into a textured grey bar that actually looks like it has some grip on it like it does in real life. On the subject of textures, i also changed the weights on each side into a light grain texture so that they look like they have a bit of “life” to them. Looking at some of the constructive feedback, i centered the “daily fitness” and lined them up because at first they were cricked and made the logo look off. The most challenging part of this logo project had to be the making of the boxing gloves. I had to keep drawing on a piece of paper the gloves so that i could perfect them when it came time to free hand them on illustrator, which also took a long time and alot of ctrl-z in order to perfect the line i wanted. The one thing about the project that i couldn’t make look realistic was the punching bag next to “daily”. The reason i think it doesn’t look real is because its rectangular. So in order to make up for that i had to put a texture over it making it look like it has wrinkles over the material. Overall im proud of how my logo turned out because it came a long way from just a simple sketch on paper, all the way to a finished polished product that im glad to share.

Project 1 Chinook.2.jpg

The first thing i would like to point out about my project is that it’s an ad for the Chinook. The reason being is that since its my main building to workout at, i thought i could honor it in form of a project. Since the Chinook has many functions i decided to just focus on the workout aspect. Which is why i chose these workout rooms;Cardio, boxing, and weight room. The reason i chose these rooms is because they are unique and are the main spots i use.

For the whole project i decided to use my own pictures because since i was working out there, i might as well take my own photos. Originally for each room i cropped them using the elliptical marquee so that they looked like bubbles. I later changed them to squares because i wanted to fill the space in the corners cause they were just an eye soar. On the edge of each square room i decided to round them by using the eraser tool. It proved difficult because i had to free hand each corner on a pixel level, which took 3 minutes per room. What i also changed was the text “its not just a building, its a lifestyle” and turned it into a 3-d text. I did this because just having a plain text in the sky just seemed boring, and i wanted something a bit more. The one thing i dislike about it is the color, i wanted the text to be a darker red but the rendering said it would take 1.5 hours so just left it be. The last thing i changed of each room was the vibrancy because they all seemed to lack color. What i did for each room was change the vibrancy to +35 and the saturation to +25 so the colors would pop out a bit more and give it that “fun” vibe.

Overall i really enjoyed the creative process of taking my own photos and turning them into a meaningful ad about the Chinook.  The main thing i learned from this project is the balance between the size of the rooms in relation to the Chinook, because on my draft the bubble rooms took away from the main subject.

Project 1 Draft

Project 1 Chinook

Since my whole blog is about me and my fitness journey, i thought it would be appropriate to include the building where i workout at, the Chinook. What i love about the Chinook is that it has all the necessary equipment to better yourself physically and mentally. The three rooms i wanted to focus on were the cardio room, boxing room, and weight room. I wanted to incorporate them in someway and i decided the best way was to crop out the photo and only center the main components of the picture. For example, when i took a picture of the boxing room it was vastly empty, but i had to show that it was being used to box. So i decided to zoom in on the punching bag and sparing gloves to give it that boxing vibe. The weight room photo was a bit more challenging to photograph because there’s a lot of machines and i had a hard time capturing all of them in one photo. I got past this by looking online and i came across a photo of the Chinook being built and it perfectly captured all the machines. Lastly was the cardio room, it was the easiest to photograph because the machines were all lined up. For the background i  chose the Chinook because i wanted it to be the main subject and the bubble rooms gave more insight into what it had to offer.

What i found most challenging about this project was spacing the bubble rooms so that they are not taking away from the main subject, which is the Chinook. In order to do that i need to make the bubbles smaller, but honestly if i do i feel like you would not be able to see the fine details of each of the rooms. When i finished putting the bubble rooms in front of the Chinook i felt like it was missing something. So i made up the phrase “Its not just a building, Its a lifestyle.” I really stand behind this phrase because you go to the Chinook and live out your lifestyle by becoming the best version of yourself by working out.

MY Workout Photo Collection

My idea for Project 1 is to create an advertisement about the Chinook and the main components it has to offer since its the main place i workout at. I took all these photos on my Iphone 8+ and i personally liked the way they turned. The Photos are crisp and have a lot going on in each photo.

My Fitness Journey

My fitness journey began when  i was a little kid in middle school. I was bullied and picked on for being the small kid, and i hated it. My freshmen year of high school i turned that around by finding my passion for kick boxing and lifting weights. Kick boxing taught me how to fight, but more importantly, how to be confident. Kickboxing tied in very well with my lifting because as i got stronger physically, i got stronger mentally.

In my Journey to become bigger and stronger I’ve taken photos and videos so i can log my progress. For example, the pictures below was when i was a freshman in high school, just learning the ropes and not knowing what to do. The picture on the right is 2 months later, not much improvement, but i was looking more defined than i was…. and i was feeling more confident than i was before.

Freshman Year

Moving forward, i plan to make a beginners workout video to log my journey, and to continue my quest into becoming stronger, not only physically, but mentally. I also plan to create a logo that can be printed onto a shirt so that its motivating and inspiring. Ultimately i want this blog to let people know that they are not alone in this fight against bullying, and how to overcome it and grow from it.
